My recent reads:

Till We Have Faces, C.S. Lewis (fiction -- compelling retelling of the myth of Cupid & Psyche)
Saints Behaving Badly, Thomas J Craughwell (non-fiction -- bad boys & girls who became saints)
The Bad Catholic's Guide to Good Living, John Zmirak & Denise Matychowiak (non-fiction, orthodox and nearly irreverent, a good laugh)

The list below looks great! Has some of my faves on it already.

Brigid - you left out all books by Jodi Picoult! I will add to the list when I get a free moment.

Brigid,

For your next update, I recommend Marian Keyes. Irish author that is laugh out loud funny. I know I've mentioned her to you...

Her latest is Anybody Out There. An earlier book I loved was Last Chance Saloon. I am now reading a book of her essays (Under the Duvet)that have appeared in Irish Papers.

Just doing my part,

Julie

Hi Brigid,

Seems like Traveling Mercies by Ann Lamott has fallen off these recent lists. Do think it's worthwhile resurrecting.

B~

You should just add ANYTHING that Madeline L'Engle wrote. There's not a bad one in the bunch.

Oh, how wonderfully true - I just gave her books to my eleven-year old granddaughter Zoie for Christmas.
